The Carers Support Team at the Western Health and Social Services Trust has started a local walking club for carers in Derry.

The team is keen to encourage informal (unpaid) carers to participate.

The aim of the walking club is primarily to improve carers’ health and well-being and provide them with the opportunity to meet with Carers in similar situations as themselves.

It also enables Western Trust staff to listen to carers’ experiences in a less formal setting.

Carmel Corrigan, Carer Development Worker and Walk Leader the walking group offered local people an opportunity to get active and enjoy the great outdoors.

She added: “We would like to encourage people of all ages and abilities to make contact to find out more about the walking club. It is a great way to keep fit and make new friends.”

If you’re interested in joining the groupcontact Carmel Corrigan on (028) 71355023 or email: [email protected]

The team will aim to meet at a time and place suitable for those interested in taking part.
