Sinn Fein Cllr Eric McGinley.

The shooting of a 17-year-old man in the Ballymagroarty area of Derry last night has been condemned by Sinn Fein Cllr Eric McGinley.

The teenager was shot in both legs in a green area to the rear of flats at O Riada Court at around 11.00pm.

He was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital by his father for treatment for injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

Condemning those responsible, Cllr McGinley said there was “no place for guns on the streets of our city.”

He added: “The community does not want this and the people behind these actions  need to stop.”
