Members of the public are being urged to attend a meeting of a senior town planner with the Derry City and Strabane District Council this week.

Roisin Wilmott, Director of Royal Town Planning Institute for Wales and Northern Ireland, will be the guest speaker at the meeting to be held at the Guildhall on Wednesday at which she will provide an insight into how the transfer of planning powers will transfer to newly-formed local authority from April next year.

Ms Wilmott will give an overview of the Draft Protocol for the Operation of Planning Committees and give elected members and the public attending the meeting an interesting insight into protocols for the operation of planning committees as the new Council comes into existence.

John Kelpie, Chief Executive of Derry City and Strabane District Council, encouraged the public and those interested in how the transfer of planning powers to local Council will operate, to attend the meeting.
