A new and free family-friendly angling event – Fish Fest – will take place in Newtownstewart, Co Tyrone, this Saturday and Sunday.

This major all-new angling event on the riverbanks of the scenic River Strule is being organised by Strabane District Council, in partnership with the Loughs Agency, and funded through Axis 3 of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.

Highlights include live tutorials from three times World Spey Casting Champion Scott Mackenzie, and Trond Syrstad, one of the world’s most high profile and best respected flycasters.

It also offers free family-friendly entertainment centred around fly tying and casting demonstrations, youth angling workshops and competitions, and general fun day activities.

Taking place at Vaughan’s Holm, the Fish Fest will take place from 10.00am on Saturday and from 11.00am on Sunday through to 4.00pm each day.

For further event details keep an eye on www.facebook.com/fishfest2014 or call Ashleigh Devine on 028 7138 2204.

For accommodation information contact Strabane TIC on 028 7138 4444.
