cityofderrygolfclubThe Aidan McLaughlin Charity Open at City of Derry attracted a big entry with all proceeds going to the Irish Cancer Society.

Sam Holmes (14) rolled back the years to record a very welcome victory with his tie breaking 37 points from another “golden oldie” Eric Watson (17) who was second on the same score.

Conor McGurgan (1), from Foyle, had 36 points in taking the third spot on a count back.

David Taylor (19) from Faughan Valley was the best visitor on 36 points.

Stuart McClelland (7) won the front nine with 21 points break of tie and Ortie Phillips (15) also needed a favourable tie break to win the second nine on 20 points.

Lady Captain Marie Clifford (26) was best of the ladies with 35 points.

Richard Ayton won the longest drive by a clear margin with his 321 yard effort at the “18th” and Ann Murphy was closest to the pin at “The Quarry.”

The Irish Cancer Society wishes to place on record their thanks for all the support they received from all quarters.
