Gerard Doherty: made valiant effort to keep out Greene strike.

An early second half goal from Aaron Greene earned defending champions St Patrick’s all three points against Derry City in their SSE Premier Division clash at Brandywell last night.

Both sides had chances to opening the scoring in the first period but failed to capitalise.

Greene’s strike – his first for Pat’s – proved to be the winner.

Irish international Fahey won the ball off Philip Lowry and played a perfect defense splitting pass to Greene who fired to the roof of the net despite Doherty’s valiant attempt to keep it out.

As in previous defeats this season, Derry dominated the final stages of the game but were unable to find an equaliser.
