A commitment by Transport NI’s commitment to improving the streetlighting and pathways in the Hollymount Park area of the Waterside in Derry has been welcomed by SDLP Cllr Martin Reilly.

Cllr Reilly said he was “delighted” the work was to be carried out by Transport NI, formerly known as Roads Service.

Cllr Reilly said: “Constituents raised with me their concerns about the condition of the footpaths in Hollymount Park following much-needed improvements to street-lighting in this part of the Waterside.

“The pathways had been disrupted during the installation of the lighting but unfortunately had been left in an unfinished state.

“I therefore welcome confirmation from Transport NI that they will be remedied shortly.”

Cllr Reilly concluded: “I am delighted these works will be completed following these representations – not least as it will provide a safe walking environment for pedestrians in the area.”
