GOLF NEWS: MURRAY WINS PRESIDENT’S PRIZE AT NORTH WEST

northwestgolfclubPaul B Murray followed up his win the previous week by winning Eamon MacManus’s Presidents Day prize at North West Golf Club at the weekend.

Paul clinched his first “Major” at Lisfannon with a well put together 40 points, ahead of over 200 members and guests.

His only blemish on Paul’s came on the  difficult par three third hole, where he registered a “no-score.”

This was more then made up for with two four-point scores at the first and fifth holes.

In second place, playing off two, was Garrett Mallon, four birdies helping helping him to 37 points.

John Kennedy (6) finished third,  also on 37 points, while winner of the gross prize was Kyle McCarron with 69.

2nd: Garrett Mallon (2) 37 pts

3rd: John Kennedy (6) 37 pts

Gross: Kyle McCarron 69

4th: Joe McColgan (12) 37 pts

5th: Hugh Doran (18) 36 pts

Front nine: Seamus McGinley 22 pts

Back nine: Manus Harley 20 pts

Young adult: Cathal McElhinney (5) 40 pts

Youth: Jason Spence (4) 36 pts

Past president: Dudley Coyle 36 pts

Committee prize: Shaun Watson 32 pts

Veterans prize: Don Coyle 35 pts

Super Veterans: (9 holes) John Gormley 16 pts

Best visitor: Jim Fletcher, Buncrana G.C.

Longest drive: Cathal McElhinney

Nearest the pin at the 13th: Pat McMyler, 2ft 7 inches

Juveniles:

1st: Jack McLaughlin 37 pts

2nd: Matthew Stainsby 36 pts

Back nine: Barry Doherty 19 pts
Front nine: Lee Gallagher 18 pts
