GOLF NEWS: BROWN AND HEANEY WIN WEEKEND PAIRS AT PREHEN

Over 80 pairs took part in the McDaid, McCullough and Moore-sponsored pairs competition at City of Derry Golf Club over the weekend.

Despite diificult weather conditions scoring was impressive with President’s Day winner Gary Brown and his partner Darren Heaney taking the honours with 83 points (44 0n day one followed by 39 points on the second day).

A four way tie break on 81 points decided the second , third and fourth places and both day one and day two prizes were also decided on count backs.

Michael McCullough, a partner in the sponsoring firm of Chartered Accountants and immediate past club captain presented the prizes and spoke glowingly of the superbly organised competition by the competitions committee and also the club’s head professional Sam Smallwoods.

Result:

1, Gary Brown and Darren Heaney 83 points (44 day one, 39 day two)

2, Vinent Devenny and Graham Hepburn 82 (43 and 39)

3, Brian Long and Eric Watson 81 (39 and 42)

4, Anthony Faulkner and Barry McCallum 81 (40 and 41)

Day 1, Ronan Coyle and Michael McDaid 43

Day 2, Gary Leckey and Thomas O’Neil 42.
