Davy McDaid: opened the scoring.

Institute 2 Cliftonville 3

Institute lost their first game in the Danske Bank Premiership when Stephen Garrett struck in injury time to snatch all three points for champions Cliftonville at the Riverside this afternoon.

Former Derry City striker Davy McDaid, who joined the Reds from Coleraine during the week, fired the champions in front after only two minutes.

Declan McKeever drew the home side level in the 10th minute but Chris Curran put the Belfast side back in front six minutes later when he finished off a fine team move.

Stephen Curry, with his second goal in two games, brought Paul Kee’s side level again when he got on the end of a Stephen O’Flynn pass to fire to the roof of the net in the 28th minute.

Institute looked set to maintain their unbeaten start to the season but Garrett prodded home after being set up by McDaid in time added on.

Next up for Institute are Linfield at the Riverside next Saturday.
