Tickets for the eagerly-awaited MTV gig in Derry this September could be as cheap as £5 – if a similar event held in England last weekend by the music channel is anything to go by.

While the organisers are remaing-tight-lipped as to what acts will be appearing, dates and venue for the two-day event are set to be revealed this afternoon at a press briefing being staged by Derry City Council, which is staging the event in partnership MTV.MTV-003

However, the acts who will be taking to the stage will not be announced until next month.

It is believed post codes will be required when tickets go on sale to ensure as many music fans from the Derry area get to attend.

The event is expected to be similar to the successful “MTV Crashes Plymouth” gig held in the South of England last weekend when tickets, priced at £5 each, were snapped up within 22 minutes of going on sale.

Up to 20,000 fans enjoyed performances from acts such as chart topping rapper and singer Example, Kaiser Chiefs, The 1975 and Kiesza.

The event was broadcast on MTV’s music channels in over 35 countries.

The second day of the two-day extravaganza saw local bands take to the stage.
