DISGUST AS PHARMACY ROBBED FOR THIRD TIME

Sinn Fein Cllr Brian McMahon.

A young female assistant was left traumatised after a pharmacy in Strabane was robbed for the third time in 18 months last night.

At around 7.30pm a robber brandishing a knife, with his face covered with a scarf, entered the premises on Melmount Road and threatened the young staff member before making off with a sum of cash.

Sinn Féin Cllr Brian Mc Mahon has expressed his disgust at the incident.

He said: “This is now the third time in 18 months that this essential community service had been robbed and staff members left badly traumatized.

“In the first instance, the thoughts of the local community will be with the young female assistant who has been subjected to this nightmare ordeal.

“But there will be also deep anger that a service which provides such an essential service and invaluable contribution to life of this community has once again been targeted in this despicable way.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have any information as to the identity of who carried this out, and indeed the culprits behind other similar robberies at local business outlets and at private homes, to make it known to the authorities immediately so that whoever is responsible can be brought before the courts and our communities made a safer place.”
