A “human chain” is to be formed across Derry’s Peace Bridge this weekend in support of people living in Gaza.

The Derry Anti War Coalition (DAWC) has called on supporters to bring banners, Palestinian flags the protest which will take place at 2.00pm on Saturday.

The protest is being organised as four children earlier today became the latest victims of Israeli air strikes in the region.

In a statement, a DAWC spokesperson said: “There is no balance in this conflict. The Israelis are armed to the teeth with the latest hi-tech equipment, including nuclear weapons, supplied by the US.

“The Palestinians have relatively primitive weapons with which to respond.

“Every death is a tragedy. But the disparity in suffering is grotesque. There is no moral or military equivalence here.

“Many people are appalled by the images on our screens every night.

“The DAWC urges all concerned to come out and show their feelings.

“The Derry demonstration will be one of hundreds on Saturday across these islands and around the world.”
