MAN (21) KNOCKED DOWN AND KILLED IN DERRY

PoliceAccident1-460x326The 21-year-old man knocked down and killed on the outskirts of Derry earlier this morning has been named as Kieran Feeney.

Mr Feeney, who lived locally, was walking along Glenshane Road when he was struck by a car close to its junction with Drumahoe Road at around 1.50am.

The Glenshane Road between Church Brae and Millbrook Park which had been closed  has now re-opened.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who was travelling on the Glenshane Road early this morning and  saw a young man wearing a grey hooded top and blue jeans walking along the footpath or road to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station or police at Strand Road on the non-emergency telephone number 101.
