finnharpsFinn Harps were held to a scoreless draw by bottom club Cobh Ramblers in their Airtricity First Division clash at Finn Park tonight.

The game was marred by a serious leg injury to Ramblers keeper Shane Hallahan who was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital following a collision with Caoimhin Bonner in the eighth minute.

In a first half of few chances, Harps felt hard done by when Cobh’s Brendan Frahill was only shown a yellow card for bringing down Paul McVeigh on the edge of the Ramblers box as he bore down on goal.

The home side felt aggrieved again five minutes into the second half when they were denied a penalty after Gareth Harkin went down under a challenge from Anthony O’Donnell, referee Matthews opting to book the Harps midfielder for diving.

Birdsall pulled of a good save from Ciaran Coll midway through the second period.

McHugh went close to grabbing all three points for the home side two minutes into the four minutes of stoppage time but he put his header narrowly over the crossbar
