The Derry “LondonDerry” Doire Clipper yacht.

The Derry “LondonDerry” Derry has narrowly missed out on a podium place in Race 15 – from Derry to Den Helder in Holland – in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

The Derry Clipper – which had been hoping to make it back-to-back wins having won Race 14 from New York to Derry – finished just six minutes behind third-placed Switzerland.

The race was won by Henri Lloyd, its fifth success and ninth podium finish in the series, with Old Pulteney in second place.

The win sees Henri Lloyd’s Canadian skipper, Eric Holden, and his crew in an unbeatable position and they will be crowned champions when the fleet returns to London on 12 July having completed the 40,000 mile, 10 month round the world challenge.
