As the crews in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race take a well-earned rest enjoying the Legenderry Maritime Festival in Derry, the organisers of the race are in the city recruiting for future events.

Crew recruitment and development director David Cusworth is looking for the next group of adventurous Derry sailors to succeed Breidge Boyle, a member of the Derry “LondonDerry” Doire crew who won race 14 of the round the world challenge.

For those eager to find out how they can take part in the race there will be crew presentations in the Corporate Marquee (next to the Clipper Race Dome) at 6.30pm tonight and in the Guildhall at 2.00pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, from today until Saturday, members of the public are invited to get up close and personal on board a Clipper yacht at the Foyle Marina where the fleet is currently berthed.

Open boat tours will take place today, tomorrow and Friday from 2.00pm to 9.00pm and on Saturday from 9.00am to 1.00pm.

The fleet will leave the Foyle Marina at 11.00am on Sunday for the start of Race 15 to Den Helder in Holland which will take place in Greencastle at 3.45pm later that day.
