GOLF: NEXUS WIN FOR MCCANN AT PREHEN

cityofderrygolfclubTony McCann (14) was the winner of the Nexus Charity Open at Prehen yesterday, just taking the honours on a tie break from Pat Tuohy, both players recording 39 points with McCann’s 21 points back nine being the vital deciding factor.

Dan Hinds (3) had a very steady round for 38 points for third nett on a count back and also the day’s best gross.

Fourth nett also on 38 points was the redoubtable Cecil Thompson (14) who is coming into form on the build up to Captain’s Day.

Best of the ladies was Bernadette North (26) with 38 points followed by Kathleen O’Doherty (35) on 33 points and Christine Mitchell (26) with 32 points.

Best male visitor was Cathal Donaghey (15), from Newtonstewart, on 30 points and the best lady visitor was Jackie McNulty (29) from Faughan Valley on 20 points.

There were three prizes for the junior golfers and the leading players being Jordan Dunn (10), 35 points, Ronan Burns (13), 32 points and Matthew Orr (10) on 31 points.
