Keith Shiels.

Derry runner Keith Shiels made a successful comeback from long-time injury to take second place in today’s Youth Sport 10K road race.

The Foyle Valley Athletic Club runner, who had a phenomenal 2013, has seen very little competition this year but he put all that behind him to post 32.31 in finishing second behind St Malachy’s Gary Murray who broke the tape in 32.01.

Stephen Duncan (Omagh Harriers), the pre-race favourite having won six races this year one of which was was the Northern Ireland and Ulster Masters cross country title, took third spot in 32.35.

Verona Campbell celebrates her win in Moville.
