CAMPBELL WELCOMES SUPPORT FOR IRISH LANGUAGE BROADCAST FUN

A commitment from Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín on the Irish Language and Ulster Scots Broadcast Fund has been welcomed by Derry Sinn Féin Councillor,Kevin Campbell.

Speaking after the Minister pledged  continuing support for the fund, said Irish Language Broadcast Fund provided “crucial support” to a range of talented groups and individuals.

He added: “The fund supports the production of excellent television, radio and online broadcasts which promotes the growth and development of Irish throughout the island.

“This financial support allows television companies to take on apprentices and trainees and helps create employment for those involved in the language sector.

“It also showcases our rich cultural heritage to a global audience.

“I welcome the Minister’s personal intervention to secure financial support for the fund for another year until March 2016.”

Cllr Campbell concluded: “Minister Ní Chuilín reiterated her commitment to the future of the Irish Language and Ulster Scots Broadcast Fund and will continue to engage with all the relevant bodies to ensure longer term funding.”
