Ryan McBride, on target twice for Derry.

Sligo Rovers 2 Derry City 2

Two first half goals from defender Ryan McBride earned Derry City a share of the spoils against 10-man Sligo Rovers in their SSE Airtricity Premier Division clash at the Showgrounds.

John Russell fired the home side in front in the 16th minute but the lead only lasted four minutes –  McBride bringing City level in the 20th minute.

The Derry defender struck again in the 28th minute to put the visitors ahead but Ledwith pulled Rovers level six minutes later.

The home side were forced to play the last 20 minutes with 10 men after Eric Odhiambo was sent off in the 70th minute, only four minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Due to the league taking a two week break because of the World Cup, Derry’s next game is not until 27 June next when they will host Dundalk at Brandywell.
