Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy said a £250,000 scheme on the A2 Buncrana Road from Messines Park to Balliniska Road will commence on Monday next, 16 June, and last for approximately ten weeks.

The majority of the work will be undertaken from 9.30am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday and from 8.00am to 12 noon on Saturdays.

However, for particular operations it will be necessary to close the road, details of which will be advised later.

At other times during the duration of the work, temporary traffic control measures in the form of stop-go boards will be operational.

The scheme is expected to be substantially completed by 28 August 2014.

In order to minimise disruption to traffic the majority of the work will be undertaken from 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 12noon on Saturdays. The scheme has also been programmed for the summer holiday period to minimise interference with school traffic.

However for particular operations it will be necessary to close the road, details of which will be advised later.

At other times during the duration of the work, temporary traffic control measures in the form of stop-go boards will be operational.

The scheme is expected to be substantially completed by 28 August 2014.

Mr Kennedy said the scheme would “greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on part of this important road cross border route.”

Motorists are being advised to expect delays and allow additional time for journeys.
