CONCERN AT UPSURGE IN ANTI-COMMUNITY BEHAVIOUR IN BALLYMAGROARTY

ballymagroartysignParents in the Ballymagroarty area of Derry have been called on to ensure that their children are not involved in recent anti-community incidents in the area.

The call comes from Sinn Fein Cllr Eric McGinley who said there had been an increase in such behaviour in the estate with vehicles being stoned and roads being blocked by the lighting of fires.

Cllr McGinley appealed to parents  to ensure they were aware of their children’s whereabouts.

He added: “There is an increasing sense of frustration within the community at the regularity of these incidents and parents need to be aware that the children involved will inevitably come to the attention of the criminal justice system and the consequences this will have for their future.”

Cllr McGinley concluded: “Parents need to be mindful of their children’s behaviour and to play their part in bringing an end to this recent destructive behaviour in Ballymagroarty.”
