Phase one and two of the scheme – from Ebrington to the Foyle Bridge – was completed at the end of last year.

Phase three will see the upgrading of the existing path from the end of phase two at Madam’s Bank to Gransha Estate.

Council has secured a letter of offer from the Department of Social Development (DSD) for the sum of £273,000 towards the total phase three cost of £298,000 which has to be used the end of March next year.

In order to complete the funding package in full, £25,000 is required from Council’s Parks Development Budget (2013-2014).

Environmental Services Committee members are expected to agree the release of the funding when they meet this Thursday,
