A 73-year-old man being treated Derry’s Altnagelvin Hospital was stabbed in his own home where he lived alone, Derry Daily has learned.
The attack took place on Convent Road, Carndonagh in Inishowen at around 9.30pm on Friday last.
The elderly victim was rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital where he is being treated for stab wounds which Garda sources said were “life-threatening.”
A 30-year-old man appeared at a special sitting of Buncrana District Court this afternoon charged in connection with the incident.
He had been detained at Buncrana Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
