GOLF: GRANT TUCKS INTO OPEN MEAL DEAL WIN AT LISFANNON

northwestgolfclubA large field took to the fairways for yesterday’s Open Meal Deal at North West Golf Club at Lisfannon, Buncrana.

Best score of the day was returned by Eddie John Grant (13) with 41 points, his round including birdies at the third, fourth, 11th and 16th.

In second place, just one shot behind, was nine handicapper David Mugan who didn’t score at the par four seventh which cost him first place.

Former captain Eddie Curran made a welcome return to the winners’ podium with a solid front nine of 20 points  followed by 19 on the back nine.

Full result:

1st: Eddie John Grant (13) 41 pts

2nd: David Mugan (9) 40 pts

3rd: Eddie Curran (20) 39 pts

CSS: 37 pts

Two-Man Scramble

Chris Lavin and Paddy McDermott were the winners of the Saturday Two-Man Scramble, clinching victory with a very small margin of 0.5 of a shot.

The two combined well for a front nine score of 26 nett and followed that up with a back nine of 27 nett, for a winning total of 53 nett.

Danny Curran and Ciaran Curran  lost out with .5 of a shot on with 53.5 nett to take second place.

In third place, also on 53.5 nett but beaten on a countback, were Gavin Doherty and Conor Doherty.

Full result:

1st: Chris Lavin and Paddy McDermott 53 nett
2nd: Danny Curran and Ciaran Curran 53.5 nett
3rd: Gavin Doherty and Conor Doherty  53.5 nett

Buncrana GAA Classic

The North West Golf Club this Saturday will host the Buncrana GAA Team Classic.

The event is open teams of four, any combination.
