RANKIN AND PEGRAM TAKE HONOURS IN WILKIES CLASSIC 5 MILE RUN

Scott Rankin and Rhian Pegram put in impressive performances to win the men’s and ladies’ races at Foyle Valley Athletics Club’s annual Wilkies Classic 5 Mile Run held in Derry last night.

Run over the scenic walk/cycle path along the River Foyle, known locally as “The Line,” the popular event is staged every year in memory of Colm Wilkinson,

Foyle Valley’s Rankin posted a time of 24.39 to take first place in the men’s race ahead of City of Derry’s Gary Slevin to claimed second spot in a time of 26.45.

Aaron Meharg, of Acorns AC, came in third in 27.01.

In the ladies’ race, Rhian Pegram claimed first place in 33.03.

The Acorns AC runner had 30 seconds to spare over Angeline McShane, the City of Derry athlete claiming second spot ahead of clubmate Miriam Bridge who posted 34.44 to clinch third spot,
