cityofderrygolfclubA hole-in-one was not enough for Dan Hinds to win yesterday’s weekly Thursday Open at City of Derry Golf Club.

The honours went to Oscar Mailey (6), playing out of Ballyliffin but a regular visitor to City of Derry, whose level par gross round gave him 42 points and a two point winning margin over Hinds (4), who also went round in level par for his 40 points that included his first ever competitive hole in one, a well hit nine iron at the “Crow’s Nest” that hopped once before doing the business for him.

James Lindsay, George Curry and Kealan Quigg were witnesses to Dan’s proud achievement.

Kealan Quigg (+1) finished in third place overall with 38 points and his 39 points being the best gross on the day.

A fourth nett prize went to Ronan Coyle (10) who is enjoying a fine run of form presently.
