A new competition for musicians will give bands in the Derry and the Strabane areas the opportunity to win three full days of recording studio time.

Launched by Derry City Council and Cool Discs record store as part of Music City 2014, the competition, in coordination with Blast Furnace (Resonate Project), the winner of the Big Break Challenge will also receive a professional photo shoot session, portfolio of images, their recorded material on hardback and the chance for  Cool Discs to stock and sell their CD.

Oonagh McGillion, Legacy Director at Derry City Council described the contest as “fantastic” stating it would give original acts across the city and region to showcase their talents, creativity and energy

She added: “The competition is a key element of the Music City 2014 programme and part of our legacy promise to embrace and nurture our city’s unique talent.”

For your chance win the full Big Break prize package interested bands/musicians are asked to email links of their performance videos (Youtube, Mp3/Mp4 ), a short biography and a mission statement about why the prize would be beneficial to them.

All entrants must be from the Derry/Strabane area and be an original act performing their own material.

To enter, email required information to Colin at [email protected] before close of business on Friday, 16 May next.

Further details on how to enter are available on www.derrycity.gov.uk/Legacy .
