Burglar276A 21-year-old man was arrested following a creeper burglary in the Galliagh area of Derry.

Entry to a house in Bloomfield Park is believed to have been gained sometime between 6.00pm on Tuesday last and 2.25am Wednesday yesterday morning.

The keys for a blue Renault Laguna were taken and the car stolen.

It was later discovered abandoned following a road traffic collision at a roundabout in the Fairview Road area of Galliagh at around 2.30am.

A 21 year old man was arrested a short time later in connection with the incident and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police are trying to trace a second man reported to have been seen in the vicinity of the abandoned vehicle.

He is described as being in his early 20s.

A PSNI spokesperson asked anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Bloomfield Park area or who witnessed the traffic accident at Fairview Road to contact detectives at Strand Road on the new non-emergency number 101.

Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they could contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
