THOMPSON TO BE NEW CHAIR OF CITY’s POLICING AND COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP

A former Mayor of Derry is to be the new chairperson of the city’s Policing and Community Safety Partnership.

Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) Alderman Drew Thompson will hold the post until 31 March next year when he takes over the post from Sinn Fein Cllr Paul Fleming tomorrow.

He will receive an allowance of £60 a meeting up to a maximum of 30 meetings over the year.

Ald Thompson, an independent member of the PCSP,  also chairs the Waterside Urban Forum and represents the Waterside on both local and area Consumer Housing Advice groups.

He was Mayor of Derry in 2007/08 and served as the city’s Deputy Mayor in 2010/11.

He is also currently a member of the Council’s Planning Committee, Regional Services Committee, Development Committee and City of Derry Airport Committee
