Women in the Waterside area of Derry have been called on to exercise caution after reports of a “flasher” in the area.

The call comes from David Malcolm, Foyle Waterside representative for the UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party) following the latest incident which occurred last night.

According to Mr Malcolm, the man exposed himself to a young woman as she walked through Kilfennan Valley Park.

Mr Malcolm, who is due to meet with members of the Community Safety Warden team from Derry City Council, said: “Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time a pervert has exposed himself in Kilfennan Valley Park.

“I am extremely concerned for the safety of women and children using the park during the hours of darkness and would advise women to to be mindful when out walking and for young people not to walk alone where possible.

“Having a mobile phone helps enormously as an immediate call to the police can see the chances of the offender/s being caught dramatically increased as soon as any incident is reported.”

Mr Malcolm said he would update residents on any further details “as soon as possibleI will be meeting members of the Community Safety Warden team from DCC later this afternoon and will update residents on any further details as soon as possible, he concluded. -Ends-
