TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADES IN DERRY AND STRABANE

stpatricksdayMotorists are being advised to expect delays in Derry and Strabane on Monday next, 17 March, due to the staging of St Patrick’s Day parades.

A number of diversions will be place in Derry where the  Spring Carnival parade will leave Queen’s Quay car park at 2.30pm,

In the interests of safety, the following roads will be closed to traffic or have traffic restrictions in place for the event:

Lane closures will be introduced along the Strand Road and Foyle Embankment in advance of the parade.St-Patricks-Day-Parade-in-001

The Strand Road lane closure, in front of the Council offices will be in operation between 1.30pm and 4.30pm.

The Foyle Embankment lane closure, on the city bound approach to Water Street, will be operational from 2.20pm until 3.45pm approximately.

Strand Road, Harbour Square, Queen’s Quay, Whittaker Street and the Foyle Embankment, between Water Street and the City Hotel, will be closed to traffic during the parade, between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

Diversions will be in operation during these times.

In Strabane, the town centre will be closed from 2.00 to Strabane: town centre closed 2pm to 5pm, no through traffic permitted.
