Two men arrested by police investigating the pipe bomb attacks on Romanian migrant workers in Derry at the weekend have been released from custody “unconditionally.”lapwingnew

The men, aged 40 and 32,  were arrested yesterday morning and taken to the PSNI’s Serious Crime Suite in Antrim where they were questioned about the incidents which occurred at houses in Lapwing Way and Lincoln Courts in the Waterside area of the city in the early hours of  Saturday morning.

No one was injured in either incident which police are treating as “hate crimes.”

Nine people, including a child were in the houses at the time.

Police have now renewed their appeal for anyone with any information about the incidents or anyone who saw anything out of the ordinary in the areas to contact CID at Strand Road Police Station on 0845 600 8000.

A PSNI spokesperson said if someone preferred to provide information without giving their details they could contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
