DRIVER INJURED IN CARNHILL HIJACKING

A man was injured when beaten by a gang who hijacked his car in the Carnhill area of Derry in the early hours of this morning,police

The man sustained cuts and bruising to his face in the incident in which he was assaulted by a number of teenagers and had his car, a blue Toyota Starlet, taken at around 1.30am.

The car was reported 15 minutes later being driven with three males on board in Benview Estate in Coshquin where it was abandoned.

The hijackers are described as being around 17 years old, approximately 5’9″ tall and were all wearing jeans.

One wore a dark coloured Superdry coat, one a white jacket and the third  a multi coloured top with a white hood.

A PSNI spokesperson asked anyone with any information to contact them at Strand Road on 0845 600 8000.
