As part of the Millennium Forum’s Undiscovered Artists series, Stage Beyond theatre company for adults with a learning disability is showcasing the work of two of its actor/artists, Frank Nelis and Gillian Craig.artists

The Undiscovered Artists series has been providing a unique platform for the paintings of lesser known but soon to be discovered artists whose pictures have been engaging audiences and visitors to the Millennium Forum since March last year.

“The reaction and feedback to all the individual exhibitions has been amazing,” said Paul Mason, general manager at the Forum.

“We had a really good feeling about the project from the planning stages and our expectations have been surpassed by every artist whose canvasses have been shown in the Forum’s Piazza area. Each artist earned his/her right to exhibit here and went through a rigorous selection process to win their place.

Stage Beyond company manager, Dee Conaghan said Being part of the “prestigious series” at the Forum was so important to Frank and Gillian and all of the company who were out in force for the opening of their friends’ exhibition in the Piazza.

“We have known of Gillian and Frank’s artistic talents for a number of years and it gives us all such pride and pleasure to see their work exhibited in the Millennium Forum. Stage Beyond is based in the Forum and it is like a home from home for us and it was fantastic to see Forum staff from all departments here to celebrate with us”

“It’s such a buzz to be exhibiting in the Forum with all those people coming through here for shows and events,” said Frank.

“It’s magic,” says Gillian. “I enjoyed getting the pictures ready. And now they’re on show for the public.”

Frank Nelis and Gillian Craig are exhibiting 12 pictures each in the exhibition and it continues in the Piazza until the middle of this month.
