DERRY RUNNERS ON THE ROAD TO ARMAGH INTERNATIONAL 5K

A number of Derry athletes are to compete in the prestigious Brooks Armagh Road Races being held tonight.

The extensive race programme, which takes place in the scenic and atmospheric “Mall” area in the heart of Armagh city centre, will kick off at 6.30pm.

Nine junior races will take place before the international ladies take to the line at 8.05pm for their 3k event ahead of the international men’s 5k will follow at 8.20pm.

The men’s open 3k at 8.45pm will bring the programme to an end.

Runners from Derry’s top two athletic clubs, Foyle Valley and City of Derry Spartans, will compete in the 5k event.

They include Keith Shiels, Scott Rankin and Chris McGuinness from Foyle Valley who will be joined on the starting line by Spartans Conor Bradley, Pajo Hamilton and Emmett McGinty.
