Cllr Logue was speaking after visiting the centre along with party colleague Colly Kelly for a Local Voices event at which local singer Decky McLaughlin and his band entertained those in attendance.

Cllr Logue said: “Since the introduction of the wet room last year, and particularly since the resumption of the school term local residents, workers and parents have been commenting on the difference the is has had on the local community.

“Having spoken to some of the workers in the Wells, it is clear that they are also seeing a lot of benefits for the men themselves with this new policy.

“I know from talking to both staff and residents that this initiative was viewed as a high risk undertaking, but to date I have had nothing but positive feedback from everyone involved.”

She concluded: “I feel it is important that we put on record the community’s appreciation of the efforts and hard work of the staff at the House in the Wells, and take the opportunity to reinforce the regard with which it is held in the wider community.
