DERRY CITY GET BYE IN EA SPORTS CUP FIRST ROUND

Derry City have been given a bye in the first round of this season’s EA Sports Cup.EA-SPORTS-CUP

In the draw, made today by the FAI National League Executive Committee, City were drawn in Pool 1 along with near neighbours Finn Harps and Cockhill Celtic as well as Sligo Rovers, Galway FC and Mayo League.

The competition will be played on a knockout basis and is divided into four regionalised pools until the quarter-final stage.

In City’s pool, Sligo Rovers have also received a bye; Finn Harps meet Ulster Senior League champions Cockhill Celtic, from Buncrana, whilst Galway FC play the Mayo League.

Holders Shamrock Rovers have been drawn in Pool 3 and also received a bye.

The first round draw is:

(Matches to be played on Monday, March 10)

Pool 1

Cork City v Limerick, Turner’s Cross, 7.45pm.

Waterford United v Avondale United, RSC, 7.45pm.

(Byes: Cobh Ramblers and Wexford Youths)

Pool 2

Finn Harps v Cockhill Celtic, Finn Park, 7.45pm.

Galway FC v Mayo League, Eamonn Deacy Park, 7.45pm.

(Byes: Derry City and Sligo Rovers).

Pool 3

Crumlin United v Drogheda United, TBC.

Shelbourne v Bray Wanderers Tolka Park 8.00pm.

(Byes: Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers).

Pool 4

Athlone Town v Longford Town, Athlone Town Stadium, 7.45pm.

UCD v Bohemians, The UCD Bowl, 7.45pm.

(Byes: Mervue United and St. Patrick’s Athletic).
