Preparatory works have begun on Legavalllon Road between the Drumsurn Road junction and Belraugh Road junction at the Pot.

Announcing the commencement of the work, Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy said the scheme would benefit road users “for many years to come.”

He added: “It will include the provision of a surface water drainage system and an improved running surface through the use of high quality surfacing materials.”

Traffic control will be in operation during the normal working day however to facilitate resurfacing works a road closure will be required with notices being erected on site in advance of the closure and diversionary routes sign posted.

The works are expected to be completed by 28 February next however, Mr Kennedy pointed out inclement weather at this time of year could cause delays.

He added: “Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.

“Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public.”

Mr Kennedy concluded: “Motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.”
