A busy Derry roundabout is to undergo much-needed repairs, according to Emmet Doyle, SDLP election candidate in the Moor Ward.cregganchapel

Mr Doyle said he had received a commitment from Roads Service that the roundabout at St Mary’s Church in Creggan would be the subject of remedial works in the next few weeks.

Mr Doyle said he had received complaints from residents about the state of the brickwork around the community focal point –  which links Fanad Drive, Eastway, Iniscarn Road and Iniscarn Crescent (leading to the entrance of the City Cemetery).

Mr Doyle said: “I had a few residents raise concerns with me about the roundabout in the last number of days, not least the unsightly nature of the structure at what is a major entry route into Creggan.

“I contacted Roads Service about the state of the structure, and they have assured me that remedial works by their maintenance contractors will begin as soon as possible.”

Mr Doyle concluded: “So many people put hard work into ensuring that Creggan is clean and welcoming to visitors and residents alike, we have a duty to make sure a focal point such as the roundabout look their best and are well maintained.”
