The weather is playing havoc with Derry City’s preparations for the new Airtricity Premiership season with the cancellation of yet another pre-season friendly and another under threat.Derry_City_FC_logo

The cancellation of the proposed away friendly against Newbuildings FC follows last Tuesday’s postponement of the game against Limavady United.

The Newbuildings clash is being re-scheduled for next month with a date to be confirmed.

And tomorrow night’s proposed fixture against Coleraine is also under threat after the Bannsiders saw their game against Ballinamallard at the weekend cancelled due to the poor condition of the surface at Showgrounds.

The club has confirmed City’s first home pre-season game will be against Irish League Danske Premiership side Glentoran which will take place at Brandywell on tomorrow fortnight, Tuesday 11 February, kick off 7.45pm.

City’s pre-season schedule is as follows:

Tomorrow: Coleraine (away), kick off 7.45pm

February 7: Institute (away), kick off time to be confirmed

February 11: Glentoran (home), kick off  7.45pm

February 16:  Derry and District Select, kick off to be confirmed

March 1: Portadown (away), kick off time to be confirmed

February: Newbuildings FC (away), date and kick off time to be confirmed.

A friendly against Irish Premier Division side Glenavon has provisionally organised with a date and kick off time to be confirmed.
