Local businesses will have the chance to link up with top figures from the North West’s leading companies at a Meet the Buyer event being held next month as part of Derry  Enterprise Week.

Maria Jackson from Airporter.

The event is geared towards small to medium enterprises keen to enhance prospects and avail of the best advice from experts at the forefront of local business.

Over 25 major local companies will be represented at the event being organised by Derry City Council as part of its Business Opportunities Programme which is funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland.

They hope to motivate and assist businesses keen to establish new networks and source potential purchasers for products and services.

Among the growing list of big names already signed up to the event are Airporter, Central Procurement Directorate, City of Derry Airport, Derry City Council, DVCB , Everglades Hotel, Fermac Properties, Gransha Hospital, H&J Martin Limited, Health Estates Investment Group, Inner City Trust, National Trust, Newry Council, NI Water, North West Regional College, Seagate, Translink, University of Ulster.

Project officer, Gemma Scarlett, said the concept was ideal for businesses hoping to source valuable new contacts within industry.

She added: “This is a great chance for local SMEs to showcase their work, and to meet with key individuals across a broad range of sectors.

“They will have the opportunity to hear firsthand what these bigger companies are looking for when it comes to supplies and services, and how their business can establish links and meet those demands. I would urge companies to come along and see what opportunities are waiting on their own doorstep, and how they can promote growth throughout 2014.”

The event will also offer businesses the chance to set up face to face sales meetings, attend tender clinics, and access free expert advice throughout the day. And with limited places available, local companies are being urged to sign up well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Maria Jackson, from Airporter said: “I am looking forward to the event my experience last year was extremely positive we were able to develop a strong relationship with a local supplier following the meeting and I also appreciated the opportunity to network with all the attendees”
