Among those who took part in the concert, held in the Millennium Forum towards the end of last year, were three of the North’s top comedians May McFetridge, Gene Fitzpatrick and the Big O.

Local musical acts who performed to the sell-out audience included Terence Morrison, Felix Healy and Yvonne Holmes. Comperes fro the show were local MC Billy Carlin and Sean Coyle from BBC Radio Ulster/Foyle.

The concert was arranged as a tribute to the hilarious funnyman who passed away after a short illness on 5 July last year, aged 71.

Noel’s family recently presented the proceeds from the event £3,804.04 to Ward 43 at Altnagelvin Hospital.

The cheque was accepted by Staff Nurses  Noeleen Reynolds and Jackie Gallagher on behalf of Ward 43.
