Parents/guardians wanting their children to start pre-school in September next year are being reminded the closing date for receipt of official application forms, by first preference providers, is 12.00 noon on Friday 10 January next.nurseryschool

The Western Education and Library Board’s (WELB) School Admissions Office has said only one application form should be completed for pre-school education and all preferences should be listed in preferred order.

A WELB spokesperson said: “Some pre-schools currently have open days/evenings for parents/guardians and children.

“For parents/guardians who have not already contacted the principals of nursery schools, nursery unit or leaders of pre-school centres regarding the admissions procedure, please do so now to request an application form and admissions booklet – ‘A Guide for Parents.’

“The completed application form and birth certificate should be returned to the first preference pre-school provider by the closing date stated, otherwise the application will be treated as a ‘late’ application.

“You can also view/download booklets by District Council area and application forms from the Board’s website, www.welbni.org by selecting ‘Admission to Schools’ on the homepage.  Copies can be obtained on request from Board Headquarters or local libraries.”

The spokesperson concluded: “If you require any additional information or assistance, please contact the School Admissions Office at WELB Headquarters, 1 Hospital Road, Omagh, BT79 0AW, telephone (028) 8241 1458.”
