The Derry “LondonDerry” Doire was second across the start line at the beginning of the fifth race of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race which got underway in Western Australia earlier today.clipperrecuitment

The fleet of 12 yachts sailed out of Albany at the start of the 2,150 sail to the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia in Rushcutter’s Bay in Sydney where they are expected to arrive between 12 and 14 December next.

Following a stopover the fleet will then compete in the world famous Rolex Sydney Hobart Race.

Two yachts, the PSP Logistics and GREAT Britain, were forced to return to Albany port for a full damage assessment following a “racing incident” shortly after today’s start.

No one was injured in the incident.
