Teenage Kicks: A Punk Musical received a standing ovation when it premiered at Derry’s Millennium Forum.teenagekicks

Written by Colin Batement and presented by the Forum and the Nerve Centre, it features the music  The Undertones, The Buzzcocks, The Stranglers and many more from the punk era.

It tells the story of Derry teenager, Jimmy McMurphy who escapes Northern Ireland in 1981 by the way of a student exchange programme to St. Francis Xavier High School in the US state of Iowa.

School principal Truman expects to host a war damaged refugee, but instead finds himself confronted by an exuberant, spikey-haired punk rocker intent on bringing rock ‘n’ rolling anarchy to the school population while breaking a few hearts along the way.

Teenage Kicks: A Punk Musical continues its run at the Millennium Forum until this Saturday 9 November. To book telephone the Forum Box Office on 0287 126 4455 or visit  millenniumforum.co.uk.
