DERRY CLIPPER PREPARING FOR RACE TO CAPE TOWN FINISH LINE

Race 3 Day 12: With 500 miles to go until Cape Town, the yachts in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race are using Stealth Mode to try to get into the best possible position to avoid the expected light, fickle winds off the African coast.derryclipper

Five boats are currently in Stealth Mode, meaning their position is hidden from the other yachts  so they can try out various tactical possibilities.

Meanwhile, the Derry “LondonDerry” Doire is awaiting weather forecasts as the spring to the finish in Cape Town draws closer.

Skipper Sean McCarter said: “We are eagerly awaiting the next bunch of weather data from our meteorologist. Hopefully, it will tell us we have successfully sailed through the worst of the high pressure ridge that threatened to stop us in our tracks and that the wind will continue to work in our favour between now and the next 500 miles to Cape Town.”
