Conor Breslin (17), from Kylemore Park, was injured on the Buncrana Road close to Templemore Sports Complex shortly after 8.30pm on Monday night of last week.

A pupil at St Columb’s College, he is a member of City of Derry Athletic Club and had just completed a training run and was returning home when the accident happened.

Conor was rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital from where he was transferred to the Roayl Victoria Hospital in Belfast and was recently tranferred to Musgrave Hospital, also in Belfast.

Conor’s mother and father have been by his bedside for the past 12 days and students from St Columb’s College and City of Derry AC have come together to organise a fundraising walk\run to support him and his parents.

The event will take place tomorrow week, Sunday 27 October, leaving Sainsbury’s car park at Meadowbank at 12.00 noon, going along the Peace Bridge, Limavady Road, Foyle Bridge, Bay Road and back to Sainsbury’s

The organisers are asking for as many people as possible to take part and are requesting a minimum donation of £5.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “If you can’t make it we would be grateful for any donation to support Conor and his family. Money can be left down with the coaches at City of Derry training at the track in Templemore Sports Complex on Mondays and Wednesdays between 7.00pm and 8.00pm.
