Visitors to Ebrington Square in Derry this Halloween should beware as some mysterious creatures will be weaving their magic to create a mythical other world of flame and fire in the shadow of the city’s iconic Peace Bridge.inferno

The dazzling Inferno will light up the riverside landscape for three nights as part of Derry’s spectacular Banks of the Foyle Halloween celebrations, from Tuesday 29 October  to Thursday 31 October.

These theatrical wonders will be brought to life by the acclaimed landscape theatre company LUXe who will transform the area around, beside and beneath Ebrington with their unique fiery fusion of  exotic shapes and music from other cultures, as they recreate experiences from far flung places.

The show features an inflatable illuminated sculpture, fiery mechanical sculpture and automaton, shadowplay, live mixed music, dance, fire performance and fire drawing, as well as some of the country’s finest street and night circus performers.

Derry City Council’s visual arts officer, Brendan McMenamin, said the piece would transform the entire riverside area below the Peace Bridge.

He added: “We are delighted to be hosting Inferno, it’s a new and exciting element to our carnival programme this year and one which should really appeal to families.”

Tickets for the show cost £3 per person or £10 for a family of two adults and three children. Shows take place on Tuesday 29 October between 6.00pm and 8.00pm, Wednesday 30 October 6.00pm-8.00pm and Thursday 31 October between 5.00pm and 6.30pm before the Hallowe’en Carnival begins at 7pm and the fireworks display at 8pm. Tickets are available online at www.millenniumforum.co.uk  or at the Millennium Forum Box Office. 028 7126 4455. A limited number of tickets available on site but advance purchasing is recommended. Please note that this is a family friendly event, open to all ages and no alcohol is permitted. The public are  advised to wrap up warm as this is an outdoor event and should allow approximately 30 minutes to experience the full magic of Inferno.
